Last year, my husband was deployed, and one of their scheduled port calls was in Bali. He booked me a ticket to Bali with plans to meet there.
I arrived in Bali and waited for them to land; however, circumstances changed, and their boat did not dock in Bali as expected. I explored the island alone, staying in three different hotels. After landing at Denpasar Airport, I stayed at the nearest hotel, where the staff picked me up.
I then transferred to another hotel to explore Seminyak Beach, which featured restaurants and bars along the shore. I enjoyed some drinks while listening to live music. After a few drinks, I returned to my hotel to rest. The next morning, I moved to a hotel originally booked by my husband.
At this hotel, I had the opportunity to sample various dishes, and in the evening, they featured a live band, which I particularly enjoyed due to my love of music. While listening to the band and sipping my drinks, the vocalist invited me to sing with them. I had a wonderful time!
Bali had long been a dream destination for me, as I have a deep appreciation for beaches. While it was disappointing not to have my husband there with me, I made the effort to enjoy Bali on my own. Having previously traveled and gone on adventures alone, I realized that our expectations can shape our emotions and feelings, and learning to adapt can lead to unexpected joys.
